It has been decided to increase basic pay in the form of Home Salary Allowance as it was recommended by the 7th Pay Commission.
In the Puducherry area, employees of Puducherry Government will get 16% of their basic salary as a house rent allowance recommended by 7th Pay Commission.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said in a release that the government has decided to implement the allowance as per the report and the employees will get a new pattern of HRA from the current month.
He said that according to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, employees in other areas of Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam will get 8 percent basic pay as HRA.
The Chief Minister said that though the regional government is coming into the financial crisis, government employees have carried out different welfare schemes for the benefit of the "admirable" role.
It was decided to ensure that the recommended HRA was implemented by the 7th Pay Commission. The new HRA will cost about six crore rupees every month.
